Firefly Mobile Phone for Kids

Firefly is the only mobile phone that’’s designed just for kids. It’’s small, sturdy. And shaped to fit a kid’’s hand. And using a Firefly phone is simple: just 5 keys make and accept all calls.

User Ratings and Reviews

1 Star Cheap and ugly PAPERWEIGHT
We got this phone for our 10-year-old daughter, more for our peace of mind than hers. Then, the problems started almost immediately. The internet interface is almost impossible to use, and is impossible if you own a newer phone. You simply can”t program the pnohe on line. The phone connectivity was terrible - and we live in a city with great coverage. Worst, the battery lasted maybe 30 minutes on standby, and maybe 5 minutes of calling time.

I think my daughter was able to use this phone 3 times before we gave up.

Save your money - buy the cheapest cell phone possible and add your kids to your own plan - shared minutes are much cheaper than the Firefly both in actual costs and in frustration!

3 Stars Firefly’’s hidden stipulations
When we first purchased the Firefly some months ago it was great. The price was right and it was safe enough for my 11 year old. I had no qualms with the product or the service. Then after a few months of not being used the display showed “limited service”. After calling Firefly I was informed that the minutes had expired and they had cancelled our service!! I didn”t know the minutes would expire or that I had to keep refilling the minutes. It didn”t say that in any of the paperwork that came with the phone. The representative told me that at the bottom of the registration card it says to go online for terms of services and that this information is listed there. Why don”t they put this information with the phone?? What about people who don”t have internet service? I thought that was very sneaky. Now, for me to get the phone reactivated it will cost me $25, I will have to purchase more minutes (none are included and the $50 worth I already paid for are expired) and a new phone number will be issued. It will be cheaper to buy a whole new phone. The product was okay, but the hard to find terms and conditions make me unwilling to buy into this product again.

1 Star Parents Beware, Minutes expire and Phone DE-ACTIVATES.
I purchased this phone for my (10 year old) kid and added $100.00 worth of minutes. During summer vacation, she kept it on a shelf and never used it. When school started up again, she turned it on and to our chagrin found out that it says it only has limited service. I called Firefly customer service and a very bubbly representative (until I questioned this practice, that is) told me that after 90 days, the minutes expire unless you keep on adding minutes. 30 days after that, the phone de-activates and requires a payment of $25.00 to re-activate. Sim card is sent by mail.

I personally think that this is a shabby practice, especially since this information is buried in their web-site.

Good Luck with this phone!

5 Stars Love the parental controls, and figured out how to set up voicemail!
I just bought the Firefly for my daughter’’s 9th birthday. It’’s a great first phone, and I love the parental controls.

I was able to figure out how to hook up voice mail to it too!!! You simply get your carrier’’s message retrieval phone number (I did this my just looking at what number I was calling to retrieve my own messages off of my cell) and then program that phone number into your child’’s address book. Then call it from the FireFly, and it will automatically take you to voice mail set up. Once in the call you can activate the number keys by clicking on the green phone button (to the left of the address book button) and you”ll see a row of numerals as well as a * and a # option. You do have to scroll back and forth, but it allows you to enter the tones needed to complete the voice mail set up (including recording your busy/away messages) and then be able to retrieve, delete, and save messages. Now the phone doesn”t have a way for you to be notified that you have a voicemail, but it does have a MISSED CALL feature and since the amount of calls they are getting are limited, it’’s no big deal to just automatically call your voicemail if you get a missed call notification. My daughter got to record both an away message and a busy message, and has been retrieving her voice mails with no problem, so it’’s not difficult to use at all.

We just added her number to our Cingular family plan rather than dealing with prepaid minutes that expire. I bought her the bubble gum pink cover for it too. Cute!

The only negative I had with it, is that the silver paint that is around the entry keys chipped away from the plastic too easily, but at least you can replace the covers. I”m very happy with it. As for some comments that children will be teased for having it…um, by whom? Most children don”t have cell phones, so I don”t see that being a problem. I didn”t buy the phone to make my child look cool, I bought the phone for the parental controls as I”m a responsible parent. My daughter is just delighted that she has a cell phone of any type. So far she has been calling her Grandma every day (which Grandma LOVES as she is out of state).

I recommend this phone for the pre-teen child.

4 Stars Great for Kids!
We purchased this phone for our 6 year old son. It was extremely easy to setup and program (not sure why so many people say it’’s hard???) If you have half a clue, it’’s no problem at all. The hardest part is trying to get our son to keep up with the phone. It comes with a clip that we usually clip to his belt loop and then stick in his pocket. It only took a few minutes to teach him how to use it and we go through it occasionally to re-enforce it. This is a great piece of mind for me knowing I can always reach him. A few negatives… First, there is no obvious way to replace the batteries. Once the batteries go, you have to replace the entire $99 phone. Next, there is no voice mail. Finally, minutes are not cheap! at .25 cents a minute, calls have to be short and to the point!

4 Stars I think I”ve got this phones worth!
I”ve had this phone for 3 years now and I must say I”ve banged it, dropped it, slammed it, got mad at it, and it STILL works great! I”ve even PURPOSELY threw it on the ground and it STILL works fine.

The LCD and button lights work great. I”ve had charges last from 3-7 days.

Picture quality is not bad when you”re up close (obviously) but as you get further back it becomes pixelated.

One problem I had with this phone was that the charger died about a year ago (I had a spare).

My phone is unlocked so I can use bluetooth (which has worked fine), also I think the phone has about 10MB of internal storage (I cannot remember currently)

This phone is definitely worth having and quality is great.

Sometimes phone call quality is bad and I get disconnected but I `think` that is my service provider (hard to tell).

4 Stars Hooked on Stability
This phone replaces a RAZR V3 that i”ve had since they first came out some years ago. The phone still works. However, it shows the ravages of a hard life as my companion. I dropped it in the snow and, dropped it everywhere else, but every time i dropped her, she came up fully functional. I like the size, shape, feel and I am familiar with its features. My only disappointment with this new phone is that the selection of ring tones is sadly deficient. The tone that i have enjoyed for years ”Sky Blue” is not among those that come within settings, and overall the selections available are significantly fewer than what was offered on my original phone. But I guess I”ll get used to it. If any one knows if/where i might download this ring tone the info would be appreciated. D. Col

Motorola RAZR V3 Unlocked Phone with Camera and Video Player International Version with No Warranty Cosmic Blue

Motorola’’s new V3 is the essence of advanced technology and superlative design. At only 13.9 mm thin, 53 mm wide (the width of a credit card) and 98 mm long, it is one of the slimmest phones on the market yet still rich in functions, performance excellence and design innovation. It provides the user with a total sensory experience - from the innovative metallic finishes and use of materials to a truly revolutionary, chemically etched keypad created from a single sheet of nickel-plated copper alloy. The Motorola V3 is the ultimate, beautiful slim-phone.

5 Stars gray french
This phone is from the gray french market. So, it is not covered with a usa warrenty . I have had no problems with this phone.

1 Star does not work
i got the phone and does not work, i have to go to TIGERDIRECT in order to change it and the new one doesn”t work !!! i got the 3rd one and is working, i don”t know for how long !! ….

4 Stars Motorola RAZR V3
I like this phone. Very easy to use - great sound quality - recieves the best signal strength of any phone I”ve owned - worked great as I traveled internationally. Also, it is linking to my bluetooth devices very easily. I would definitely recomend this phone to others.

5 Stars Great Service from HassleFreeCell
I purchased two phones from HassleFreeCell their service was outstanding, I recieved both the phones in a timely manner and the products were in great condition. I”ll be sure to return and highly recomend their store.

1 Star unsatisfied customer
I wanted to surprise my brother for x-mas with RAZR V3 phone. I was happy to buy the phone for a reasonable price from Amazon. But, when I opened the product I noticed some scratch although the external plastic package is still on it. I complained about getting a used product for a new one. I received a credt from the sellers for that.

However, after the product reached my brother who lives outside the US, he told me that the power adapter lid does not stay closed. It fells off regularly and he has to attach it with some plastic. I am sad about that. There is not doubt that the product was a brokena and used one, and was packaged as new. I would have returned it right away, but I did not have enough time to return and buy another one before x-mas. The whole experience was very disappointing for me, although I recieved some credit back after I complained from the sellers. The whole experience was a disappointing one. It is better to pay a higher price and purchase a good product, than to be left disatisfied.

The message, dont necessarily trust what they claim, there are some who give you a lower price but will sell you an inferior product. Lesson learned.

User Ratings and Reviews

2 Stars eh…
I suppose I”m being punished with this phone because I went for aesthetic pleasure and an affordable price instead of functionality. If that’’s what you”re looking for, then by all means, purchase this product.

My biggest problem with the phone is the keys. They”re annoyingly close together– I have to dial and text with my fingernails. The phone is just as small as it looks, and the keys are much more irritating than they look. Also, the phone doesn”t have a T9 word function. That befuddles me. In a digital age such as this, what phone doesn”t have T9?

The service is also sub-par. Again, with a phone this size, I suppose that’’s to be expected? But really. I haven”t had that many problems with it in places with good service (ie. Chicago city proper), but when home in the suburbs it’’s a big joke.

The camera and video functions are again, ok. Not that spectacular, but I don”t really believe in camera phone pictures, so that wasn”t that big of a deal to me. If you do, again, get another phone.

All in all, this phone looks good, but really isn”t that great. Then again, it’’s very affordable, so if you”re looking for a cute phone with mediocre functionality, this is the phone for you.

3 Stars Keyword: Functionality
Keyword: Functionality

PROS: Functionality, Sleek design; Fall endurance; Scratch resistance

CONS: Low-resolution display; Poor camera quality; No MP3 player; Poor speakerphone quality; Poorly designed keypad

If there’’s anything that I have learned about this cell phone for the one good year that I have had it, it is the keyword: “functionality.”

I think this is a great phone to get for your teenagers, or people in general, when it’’s their first cell phone because of its pure and basic functions. Surprisingly enough, even with the release of the coolest phones around (i.e. the iPhone), I still receive compliments about the phone about its slim and sleek design.

I mentioned “fall endurance” and “scratch resistance” as its pros because I have a horrible tendency of dropping my cell phone from places such as my pocket or my purse. For instance, just yesterday, I dropped my cell phone down a staircase of some 10 steps. I surely thought it wouldn”t survive that fall, but it did! As for its scratch resistance, yes, it’’s still pretty in black and functional after the (I swear) 20 falls it has endured over the past year.

Another important thing that I have learned from using this cell phone is what I want from the next cell phone that I upgrade to.

I remember when I first got this cell phone I was initially disappointed with its low-resolution display and I still find myself still frustrated after all these months, especially when I see how awesome my friends” cell phones” screens are like, so crisp and sharp and clear.

And it’’s true that this phone has low picture quality. Most pictures I take in a spontaneous moment ends up being lost and blurry. It’’s disheartening, really. You have to have a steady hand or else. Not to mention, I”m a photographer at heart, so I”m just plain picky when it comes to picture quality anyway.

This phone is often confused with its older brother, the Motorola L7 which has iTunes capability. This one doesn”t, although I somehow managed to have enough space in my phone to nearly download a full John Mayer song as my ringtone. But, make no mistake, I downloaded the song from a friend’’s cell phone (he has the SYNC with BlueTooth capability and all those fancy things). Oh, but this phone does have BlueTooth; I”m just not a fan of that usage, that’’s all.

Poor speakerphone quality is a fact in this phone, which is a feature I use often. I find myself repeatedly asking “What?!” when talking to my boyfriend or whoever it is that is on the other line. Oh! I also find that when talking normally into the phone, that after hours of a conversation, the heat of the phone radiates through my ear and makes it uncomfortable.

Poorly designed keypad? Oh, yes. I really don”t know what makes it such of a discomfort, but it’’s there. Maybe it’’s because the keypad curves? Or maybe because there’’s that divide for each key? Eh, no idea, but it does bug the heck out of me and STILL does.

So, take my advice: after a year, the only reason you would get this phone is because of its functionality, period. Maybe you”re a parent who wants their kid to have a phone that makes and receive calls. Or maybe you”re someone who’’s starting out and don”t know what they quite want yet in a phone and can”t decide until you actually have it in your hand. Well, guess what? I”m BOTH! Except, well, I was the kid.

But, yeah, I”m ready to upgrade after A YEAR with this phone. I”m doing my research, and thus far, I”m leaning towards the Motorola RIZR Z3 (Rose).

Hope this helps.

3 Stars Poor reception
I got this phone to replace my RAZR when a very unfortunate accident killed it. I like the size and the styling, but the reception is horrible. My RAZR got great reception and my wife’’s RAZR gets 5 bars when I will only get one in certain places. I bought an antenna booster, but that hasn”t helped. I wish I had paid more for a RAZR!

Motorola RAZR V3 Unlocked Phone with Camera Video Player International Version with No Warranty Satin Pink

Thin is definitely in. At just over a half-inch thick, the Motorola RAZR V3 is the perfect combination of sleek design and powerful features. With long-range Bluetooth, support for video playback, a VGA (640 x 480) camera and a gorgeous color screen, the RAZR V3 is everything you”re looking for in a stylish mobile companion. The Motorola RAZR V3 is truly an impressive quad-band phone. And now it is available in gorgeous satin pink for those who want to kick up the style.

Design
The RAZR V3′’s design takes the standard clamshell form factor to the next level with an impressive, anodized aluminum construction. A large 176 x 220 color display with 262,000 colors dominates the inside of the top cover. The outside cover of the handset sports a supplementary 96 x 80 full-color display that can display pictures, time, call information, battery and signal strength, and more. The VGA camera lens is housed above this display. Up/down buttons are placed on the left side for volume control while a voice button on the right side of the unit allows you to enter voice memos and create voice dialing profiles. Most of the phone’’s features and on-screen menus are controlled by a five-way center button on the handset’’s backlit control pad, which is precision cut from a single sheet of nickel-plated copper alloy. A charging port and USB data cable port is placed on the bottom of the phone.

Calling Features
The RAZR V3′’s internal phone book can hold up to 1000 contacts, while the phone’’s picture ID system allows you to assign pictures to your most common callers. It also supports polyphonic ringtones as well as MP3 ringers, allowing you to use portions of your favorite songs to alert you to incoming calls. A number of ringtones come preloaded on the phone. There’’s even an included application, MotoMixer, that lets you mix your own ringtones. For times when you want to be discreet, there’’s a vibrating alert. A built-in speakerphone makes it easy to talk without having the phone to your ear while voice activated dialing makes calling your friends, family and associates as easy as saying their names.

Because the RAZR V3 is Bluetooth enabled, wireless headsets can be configured with the phone for total handsfree operation.

Messaging, Internet, and Tools
The RAZR V3 is a messaging and wireless Internet powerhouse. Support is built in for sending and receiving pictures, text, graphics, sound and video via messages. When used in combination with the phone’’s built-in still and video camera, MMS opens up a whole new world of messaging fun. Instant messaging is also supported via AOL Instant Messenger and the phone ships with a built-in email client with support for POP3, IMAP4 and SMTP protocols.

iTap text entry, which is a technology that makes it easier for people to enter words and text on handsets, is built into the unit– a plus for mobile email and text messaging users. And with Internet service and a data plan (not included) and its Bluetooth or USB data capability, the phone can be used as a wireless modem for laptops and PDAs.

A number of handy software tools are bundled with the RAZR V3 including a voice memo recorder, a calculator with currency converter, a calendar and an alarm clock. Use the phone’’s Bluetooth capability to set up a wireless link with a Bluetooth accessory or connect to a computer or hand-held device to exchange and synchronize data. The phone also supports the SyncML PC synchronization standard, can be used with Motorola’’s Mobile Phone Tools PC application to manage and synchronize contacts, calendar and other data with your PC.

Imaging and Entertainment
With 5 MB of internal memory storage, the RAZR V3 shines in the entertainment department. The phone’’s VGA camera features a 4x zoom, image quality options, and an auto-timer so you can be in your pictures, too. Capture stills and then send them to your friends via MMS messaging or email, or to your PC via USB or Bluetooth. The phone is capable of MPEG4 video playback when you receive a video message, or if you upload video to the phone via USB or Bluetooth. The RAZR V3 also supports custom graphics for wallpapers so you can dress up the phone to suit your fancy.

Operating the RAZR Battery Door
The RAZR V3′’s battery cover is designed to have a very tight fit with the phone case. You may need to use your fingernail or a very thin instrument to depress the small battery cover release button. When replacing the cover, make sure the cover securely snaps into place before operating the phone.

Vital Statistics
The Motorola RAZR V3 weighs 3.35 ounces and measures 3.86 x 2.09 x .54 inches. Its lithium-ion battery is rated at up to 6.67 hours of digital talk time, and up to 250 hours of digital standby time. It runs on the 850/900/1800/1900 MHz GSM/GPRS frequencies. The phone comes with a one year limited warranty.

User Ratings and Reviews

4 Stars Good, but bi-color
It came okay but it’’s not all the same color. I love pink and I don”t care much about the shades, actually I”m lazy, that’’s why I did not returned it.

3 Stars Motorola Razr V3 Review - Seems to be a used one
Even though the phone is functioning normally, the phone has scratches and one of the side button on the hinges was not there. The phone does not have any new phone look.

The Amazon website should have mentioned the fact in their webpage, if it is a used one or a remanufactured one so that the buyer would have an idea in advance. I have purchased this phone from Amazon (though we had local sellers of the same phone where we could have bought the phone with 100% satisfaction) just because I had very good past experience with Amazon and almost all the purchases we make through Amazon.

I did not have time to return it as I gifted that to my sister hence I advise other users to check it atleast once after you receive the item.

1 Star Not worth it…
I didn”t really want to write a review for this, because I hate saying anything negative, ever, but I believe other consumers should be informed when deciding on a purchase.

The phone is cute, I”ll give you that much, but other than that, it has been nothing but a headache from the moment I received it. I purchased it from Amazon, not an independent seller, and it was listed as ”new” and ”unlocked”. It was, in reality, neither of those things. It took me forever to track down the subsidy password from AT&T, just to unlock the phone. Then, there were all kinds of settings from the previous owner, so I knew it wasn”t ”new”. Also, the battery would die after 6 hours, even with the power off. Replacing the battery only added two more hours to the charge.

I contacted Amazon about the issues, of course. They couldn”t send a replacement because they said it was out of stock, and I couldn”t return for a full refund, because I had brought the phone with me to Germany, and didn”t have the original packing, and the charger had been lost when my an outside pocket on my luggage ripped. I had to settle for a crummy $16 refund for choosing to keep the phone (I had no other option). So, I”m out $60 and I have a phone that is useless.

I would highly suggest to anyone considering this phone to think long and hard about whether the problems are worth it with. To me, they aren”t.

1 Star Motoro razor review
I purchased this item for my teenage daughter. Delivery was prompt, phone is in good shape..very good looking phone..and trust me that is ALL!!! It wouldnt take the sim card..and then all of a sudden it started working…camera wont work, cannot send text or receive them…battery is pathetic…it does not hold a charge..charge it overnight and get one minute of talk time…I am very dissappointed actually I had to buy another phone in its place..and the company would not replace it or reimburse my money (around $69.99 , w/o tax& shipping)

1 Star Not new
This was clearly refurbished. The pink plates didn”t even match and some of them were worn and dirty looking. It’’s also set with Cingular backgrounds and logos, I have T-Mobile. Didn”t like that either. If they sell something for 100.00 and say it’’s new, it should be new!

2 Stars 3 months and crapped out!
This is our second “K series” SE phone and we encountered a similar issue on the K750i and now this K850i : the phones would not charge any longer after about a year for the K750… Fancier, the K850 had an even shorter life : 3 months… Very sad… I suspect the pins for the charging connectors are breaking/ not making contact with the phone…

I guess I will not insist on the next SE well marketed series coming out and will explore other brands from now on… Overall, nice phones, user friendly interface, nice screen and menu navigation… But with a lifespan of just 3 months! just nor durable enough… Since we purchased it “without warranty” On Amazon, SE’’s response for a diagnosis and repair would range in the ~$160 range… Add that to the equation and it is looking like a very very expensive phone…

5 Stars Nice cellphone
Good price, excellent camera of 5 MP, good audio.

One of the best 3G I have ever see.

Default mini SD of 512 MB

High recommended.

The only issue to be aware is his size, everything else is ok.

1 Star Not recommended
I purchased this phone roughly four months ago, and it has stopped working. The keypad will light up, but the screen will not respond. A brief check on various internet forums will show you that this is a very, very common problem with the K850. Given that there is no warranty that comes with the phone, I absolutely cannot recommend it to anyone. Customer service at an actual Sony Style store was terrible, and they seem to know how bad this phone really is. Buy an Nokia N82 instead.

This touchscreen-enabled phone has a large, brightly colorful 3.2 inch screen, and it includes Samsung’’s intuitive and easily customizable TouchWiz user interface. Other features include 8 GB of internal memory, a built-in GPS receiver, 5-megapixel camera, multi-format digital audio player, Bluetooth for handsfree communication and stereo music streaming, MicroSD memory expansion, video output to your TV, and up to 5.8 hours of talk time.

With the Windows Mobile 6.1 operating system, the Q Global supports Microsoft System Center Mobile Device Manager, which provides single-point access to line of business and corporate data such as applications, files and other information located on the corporate network. It also provides push email for immediate send and receive on Corporate Microsoft Exchange servers as well as editing of Microsoft Office documents.

This unlocked cell phone can be used with a GSM network service provider and it provides quad-band connectivity (850/900/1800/1900 MHz). It does not come with a SIM card, and it requires that you provide a SIM card for usage with your selected service provider.

When paired with a compatible 3G network that uses WCDMA 2100 MHz connectivity (found in Europe and Asia), you”ll enjoy a high-speed connection offering a variety of feature-rich wireless services–from data connectivity to your office to multimedia streaming, and take advantage of simultaneous voice and data services. In the United States and foreign territories where 2100 MHz 3G networks are not available, you”ll continue to receive data service via EDGE network (depending on network compatibility).

In addition to the internal 8 GB of memory, the Omnia can be expanded via optional MicroSD/MicroSDHC memory cards up to 8 GB in size.

The Omnia is loaded with features, including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 2100 MHz 3G connectivity, a 5-megapixel camera/camcorder, and GPS.

And Samsung’’s differentiated tactile technology also gives you tangible feedback sensation when items are selected.

Handsfree communication is easy thanks to the integrated speakerphone. This phone also provides Bluetooth wireless connectivity, and includes profiles for communication headset, handsfree car kits, and audio/video remote control. With the A2DP Bluetooth profile, you can stream your music to a pair of compatible Bluetooth stereo headphones. You can connect your laptop (either via Bluetooth or wired USB) and enjoy dial-up networking–surf the Internet, send email, and access files from a server.

The 5-megapixel autofocus camera sports a 4x digital zoom, flash, face detection, 15 shooting modes (from sports to sunset), ISO settings, and many more advanced functions. It also captures video clips (length determined by available memory), which can be displayed on external TVs and monitors using the phone’’s TV output capabilities. The digital audio play provides a wide range of format compatibilities (MP3, WMA, AAC, eAAC+), and the video player offers multi-codec support for DivX, Xvid and other video formats, eliminating the hassle of file format conversions. It also comes with an FM radio with RDS, which displays the name of the currently playing song (when tuned to compatible radio stations).

The Omnia offers a mobile extension to your PC experience with access to MS Office documents such as PowerPoint, Excel and Word.

Powered by Windows Mobile 6.1
Microsoft’’s Windows Mobile 6.1 offers a number of handy features that make searching through email, editing Microsoft Office documents, and staying on top of your most important communications even easier. Emails can now be viewed in their original rich HTML format and now offer the ability to visit embedded links. It also includes Windows Live for Windows Mobile, which provides a full set of Windows Live services, such as the Windows Live Messenger IM application, which now enables you to chat with more than one person at one time or send a file.

With Windows Mobile 6.1, your phone will finally be able to emulate the power and features of your PC’’s Microsoft Office suite. You”ll be able to neatly view, navigate and edit Word documents and Excel spreadsheets in their original formatting–without affecting tables, images or text–as well as view PowerPoint presentations.

  • Microsoft Office Word Mobile features include spell-check, Find and Replace commands, bulleted lists, text formatting, and support for tables for the first time.
  • With Excel Mobile, you”re not just confined to editing charts: with the new Chart Wizard you can create charts quickly and easily.
  • PowerPoint Mobile allows you to view the full presentation, rehearse timings, check the order and any live links you may have in your presentation. You can then email comments back to the team or communicate via MSN Messenger for an immediate response.
  • After creating or editing a Word document or Excel spreadsheet, you can synchronize it with your PC and it will automatically be converted to the PC version.

All Windows Mobile 6.1 powered devices include Direct Push Technology for up-to-date e-mail delivery and automatic synchronization of Outlook calendars, tasks and contacts through Microsoft Exchange Server. It also offers a set of important device security and management features that include the capability to remotely wipe all data from a device should it be lost or stolen, helping ensure that confidential information remains that way.

User Ratings and Reviews

1 Star Lovely to Look at Terrible to Use
I was seduced–by the Omnia. And what a mistake that was.

The good–all of the features that are cited. Yes, they are there.

The bad–virtually everything else.

–I have had an iTouch in my pocket for over a year. I have had the Omnia for 2 months (I just replaced it with a Nokia.) The number of scratches on the Omnia screen compared to the iTouch is appalling.

–In order to make the touch screen compatible as a phone the approach to preventing accidental entries on the screen is a killer for users. Eight button pushes, besides the phone number to access an extension phone.

link.

–I tried to install Windows 7 Beta–the presence of the Omnia on my PC prevented that.

–I tried to install Omnia on the Blue Tooth device in my car. It did not work.

–Mobile 6.1 makes using the Omnia like the good old days of 56K Internet.S L O W

–The need for a stylus, dangling at the side of the phone, means that the touch screen functionality is low. Many of the operations need the stylus unless your fingers have the same dimensions it does.

–Batteries are weak.

–Establishing the link with my PC took hours of coaching from the cell phone provider.

And doing some post-purchase research with personnel at my provider during many service calls had a consistency–when pressed, they all said the Omnia was a dog of a machine.

My advice–buy something else, anything else. In 17 years of cell phone use this is by far as bad as it gets.

4 Stars New Omnia
It is a great phone, but it has so many features that I decided to sell it, because I prefer a simpler one and it has a disadvantage: I am a big guy with big fingers and I had to use the stylus to enter digits when dialing a call, because if I used my fingers, i dialed the wrong digit, even on the horizontal view. It is more focused for using stylus (witch I dont like, and it does not come inside the phone, but hanging from a lanyard), or for woman with nails.

It is great, but not suited for me.

2 Stars Samsung Omnia…what’’s Latin for “brick”?
I have given this phone 8 months before finally admitting it’’s the worse handset I have ever owned. 8 months…of resetting, crashing, hanging, fixing .. I doubt I have enough room here to list the problems I have had, so let’’s think of a few of the more annoying ones, starting with WinMo 6.1 (need I say more)..the fact that syncing music is a nightmare because when you sync 4GB of music the phone “tricks” itself it is full and you can”t use the camera …the Touch Player is only marginally better than the Windows Mobile player..the touch screen sticks or scrolls uncontrollably, the phone/dial screen locks in seconds making it cumbersome to use the keypad in touchtone calls..having to unlock every few seconds, the sms and email notfications decide when they”re going to work if at all..the email app seems totally unable to sync with an MS Exchange Server…you have to constantly remove tasks in the task manager to save on battery and processing memory, it doesn”t like 3rd party apps or shells…the stylus hanging from the phone without a cradle was bound to break off sometime (and it did)..the animation/rotation has a mind of its own even when you”ve altered the settings. The clock and alarm apps decide they”re only going to work when THEY want to…the Opera app decides it can”t run at all because despite what the memory status is telling you , it thinks there is no more memory left…there is much much more..I had a 2G iphone for a year before the iphone was released here and even with the restrictions I had network-wise made that a more functional handset…I did/do not want another iphone because I wanted a phone that had “more features”…but seriously, I cnanot beleive that I haven”t yet launched this Omnia into a wall..

2 Stars ehhhhhh… its okayy.
I bought this phone when my upgrade for verizon was up. i did lots of research and was between the omnia and the blackberry storm. all of the reviews said that the omnia was the better pick, soo i bought it. The omnia is a phone that is meant for use with a stylus not thumbs. Windows mobile lagged quite a bit… so much to the point that i just had to cancel what i was doing to unfreeze it. the accelerometer( turning thing) can get quite annoying. I am a very big texter…. and this is not a texting phone i found myself dreading having to type on it. luckily i had a thirty day grace period and if i didnt like the phone i could return it, which i did and i bought the storm. And i love it. it is so much more user friendly, you can set almost everything to the way you like it.

in conclusion…. if you are looking for a touch phone like the iphone…. skip the omnia and go straight to the storm, with its facebook and flicker built in applications the omnia doesnt compare.

1 Star Omnia Horrible Phone
The Samsung Omnia is the worst phone I have ever owned. It is dead after only 3 months. The software went bad and the phone won”t turn on. It doesn”t lock anymore and makes random calls. Also, it won”t charge. The people at the Verizon store checked and said the battery was perfectly fine. Then they had me talk to tech support on the phone. The tech support guy said that there are a lot of problems with the phone due to all the electronic stuff in it. They agreed because the phone is under warranty to replace it with the LG enVtouch. They had the new phone to me by 9:30 a.m. this morning via Fed Ex. I couldn”t even turn on the Omnia to get my contacts out of it.

I would not recommend the Omnia to anyone.

Samsung S8300 UltraTOUCH Platinum Unlocked Phone International Version with No Warranty Red

Today Samsung has officially announced their latest high-end phone, the Samsung S8300 UltraTOUCH. The fully touch-operated slider has decided to avoid the crowd at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona and appear a week earlier. With the LG KM900 Arena also appearing today we are not quite sure how much of a good decision that is.The key features naturally include the 2.8″ OLED scratch-resistant touchscreen display with WQVGA resolution (240 x 400 pixels). Unlike most other touchscreen devices the Samsung S8300 UltraTOUCH a.k.a. Samsung Tocco Ultra uses the capacitive technology, as with the Apple iPhone 3G and LG KF900 Prada. Dressed to impress with a slim 12.7 mm body and a finely brushed metal frame, the S8300 UltraTOUCH also has the features to do so. The handset comes with an 8MP autofocus camera with dual-LED flash that can capture videos up to VGA resolution at 30fps. Next are the built-in GPS with A-GPS support, Bluetooth v2.0 with A2DP, microUSB and the microSD memory card slot. FM radio with RDS is also on board, making Wi-Fi the only major abscence here.

User Ratings and Reviews

1 Star Poor
Battery dies in less than 25 mints even after fully charged.

LCD screen flickers when you open the slide.

3 Stars did not send me what was pictured
the phone itself is great, but they sent me a black and gold phone, when the item listed specifically says “black” and picture does not show the gold accents that are on the phone I received…

shipment was quick and all in all good purchase, but a little bending of the rules going on, i am afraid….

4 Stars SAMSUNG SGH-U600
SAMSUNG SGH-U600 (unlocked) GSM phone is a nice phone with good audio quality. You have to push the Micro SD disk very hard in the slot, Samsung should really improve more on this area.

Overall this is a very good phone.

5 Stars Great phone really small
This phone works great. It is extremly small and very easy to use. Some say its too small which makes it fragile I say just don”t use it like a rugged piece of gear. The phone quality is amazing and the features are great too. I would recommend this phone to anyone wanting to get one of the slimmest phones out there.

4 Stars Slider
The phone is very light- almost too light. Camera is terrific. Call quality is good.
